The 'Lux Capacitor' Structured Water Generator

The Lux Capacitor (yes we are Back To The Future fans) is a device that is installed on your pool filtration equipment that offers a few special and unique benefits that may seem like magic. At its core, the Lux Capacitor is a device that creates structured water. It is passive, so it requires no power or servicing, and will last nearly indefinitely.

Structured water is water molecules that have experienced a rearrangement of how it positions itself relative to neighboring elements through the process of cavitation. We are not going to dive down the rabbit hole of structured waters health benefits vs snake oil effect. There is plenty on that on the web that you can find supporting both sides of that argument. All we care about is what we have observed, and the effects of structured waters behavior in the pools we build and service.

The primary purpose and largest benefit of the Lux Capacitor and structured water is sanitization. To create structured water, high heat is necessary at the molecular level. This high heat kills bacteria and other organics in the pool water. With these organics being killed as the water passes though the device, less baseline chlorine (free CL) is needed in the pool and less pool 'shocking' is required. From a health standpoint, less chlorine in your pool and in contact with your skin is a good thing.

The next benefit to structured water is its ability or tendency to expel and reject other items in suspension such as minerals, metals, chemicals, and other impurities. Icebergs though in the salt water, are fresh water and so pure that iceberg water is sold as healthy high end drinking water. We cannot speak to the health aspects of iceberg drinking water. Not having salt or any impurities seems to be a result of the structured water expelling foreign matter and collecting with other structured water. The water as it assembles freezes and became icebergs.

The next behavior of structured water is its tendency to collect on surfaces and bond with other structured water against those surfaces. Seems boring, but in a pool this means that structured water will 'coat' or 'line' the walls of the pool and even the bathers in the pool. Why is this a good thing? Because if the structured water is lining the pool walls AND does not carry foreign matter such as calcium or metals as mentioned above, it is much less likely that scale will form on the pool walls and equipment.

When structured water is coating the walls of the pool it is also coating and creating a barrier on swimmers and bathers. Why do we care if structured water coats or lines a bather? Because that water will not allow chlorine to make as much contact with the chlorine molecules in the pool. Chlorine is a poison. It kills organics. We are organic. Though chlorine is necessary to kill microbes, it likely would not be approved by the FDA if it were presented today. Any time we can limit the amount of chlorine that touches our skin, the less chlorine our skin will absorb into our body. AGAIN this is a very good thing.

The last and less measurable benefit of the Lux Capacitor and structured water is its ability to prevent and, in some cases, reverse scaling on pools. Though difficult to measure or quantify, we have several Lux Capacitors on pools that we service weekly, and we are observing a breakdown of scale off pool walls and equipment. It is unclear if the structured water is breaking down the scale formation or somehow absorbing it. Based on what we know about structured water we tend to think that absorbing foreign matter would be unlikely but otherwise we can not say WHY we are seeing what we are. We also have a theory that the scale may be dissolving back into the water as a result of a much lower choline environment. Yes your pool will still require a 1-3PPM chlorine level. It will just take MUCH LESS chlorine to get to that 1-3ppm FREE chlorine level.

Even without the descaling properties that we have seen as a result of the Lux Capacitor, we feel very strong about the health benefits of the Lux Capacitor. Needing less chlorine, preventing scale, and killing organics without chemicals make a structured water generator a good investment and a valuable component to have on your pool system.
